The Winning Hot Flash Club Poem

SITTIN' IN THE MORNIN' SUN

by Pam Suggs, Library Director, Homer, LA

[Hummed (because I cannot sing!!) to the tune of that great Otis Redding hit "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay.]

Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be melted before noon time comes!
Feelin' each little splash, and I know it's only another hot flash!
Cause it's 30 degrees out here, And I'm the only one cravin' cold beer!
Sittin in the mornin' sun,
Feelin' hot!

Left my coat in Georgia
And headed for some icy peaks,
But I had those flashes in Utah,
Some relief is what I seek!

Feels like I'm in the change,
Everything won't stay the same!
I can't see my toes anymore,
No more trips to the candy store!

I'm sittin' here restin' my buns,
Won't matter how many miles I run,
Those old hot flashes will still come!

So I'm sittin' in the mornin' sun,
Just feelin' those sweat drops run!
Sittin' in the mornin' sun,
Feelin' hot!

Goin' to get me some new hormones,
After I drag myself back home. 'Till then,
I'm sittin' in the mornin' sun
Feelin' hot!
